This course explores all aspects of creative, theatrical media makeup from camouflage makeup, complex skill of airbrushing and media makeup to applying ready-made postiches and prosthetic pieces whilst creating fantasy hair designs.
You will develop a wide range of technical abilities and skills in a busy, fast-paced environment while gaining crucial experience of working with theatre productions and professional clients in the industry.
You will develop skills as a professional make-up artist, which will enable you to provide hair and make-up services in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion and photographic industries.
This course is fast paced, creative and fun! You will need to be highly motivated and flexible to prepare you to work in industry led placements.
You will learn the following:
- Apply airbrush make-up to the face
- Hair Styling
- Wedding Make up
- Special effects camouflage make-up
- Media make-up
- Fashion and photographic make-up
- Apply small prosthetic pieces and bald caps
This is a Study Programme and priority will be given to students who are 16-18 years of age.
To study a Level 3 qualification, you will need:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades 4-9 including English and/or Maths (or L2 Functional Skills in English and/or Maths)
OR
A relevant Level 2 qualification and English or Maths at Grade 4 or above (or L2 Functional Skills in English and/or Maths)

You will be required to wear a uniform (black t-shirts and trousers) and a full black shoe. Our recommended supplier is Gear. You will also be required to purchase a kit which will be discussed at interview. More information will be provided during the application process and you may be eligible for a bursary to help pay for your kit and uniform.

Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:
- A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
- Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
- English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade A*-C in english and maths (grade 4 and above)
- Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips.
