This is a part-time course with an option of either attending in the day or evening. You will study the art of dressing and styling women's hair for all occasions such as bridal, races and special events. On completion of this Level 1 course you have the opportunity to advance to Level 2 Diploma in Women's Hairdressing following an interview with your tutor. Please note that it is mandatory to complete awarding body COVID19 qualifications whilst studying a VTCT course. The exam registration fee is approximately £20.

- Set & dress
- Blow dry
Related skills and the required knowledge will also be studied including:
- Client care
- Team work
- Creating a positive impression
During the course you will have the opportunity to attend national shows and exhibitions where you can see demonstrations by some of the country's leading Hairdressers.
A genuine interest in Hairdressing/Beauty Therapy and an ability to communicate 1:1 with clients.
Ability to complete fine work such as sectioning hair, plaiting and setting hair.
You must be prepared to give and receive treatments from other students on your course.
Applicants may be considered on their individual skills and experience.

Office use only. Non Standard 21.1.You will need to wear a uniform, which consists of black tailored trousers (no leggings or jeans) and a black branded T-shirt. The T Shirt with white hairdressing branding on the back is £6.50. You must wear all black closed in shoes. You will also be required to buy a kit so you can practice your skills at home. The kit contains all you will need including a PPE apron at a cost of £218.47. This includes delivery to your home address. This will be discussed at interview.
Assessments continue throughout the course. Practical assessments are carried out and written assignments are completed.
An early application is recommended for this course due to its popularity.
Students may be able to fast track to level 2 after term 1, dependent on individual progress.
An ability to communicate one to one e.g. to a tutor or client and in a group as part of a discussion.
Technical language will be taught on the course.
Whilst high levels of numeracy are not required, you will need to be able to measure products and work within specific timings.
