Information for Parents, Guardians & Carers

Wirral Met College offers 16-18 study programmes, 19+ adult courses, apprenticeships and university level courses across our five campuses. From the moment your son or daughter arrives, they will benefit from the outstanding support from tutors, career advisers, additional learning support team and our Student Services team. We believe in making every student feel valued and opening up a world of opportunities through:

  • Cashless Payments

    The College are introducing a cashless payment option for use at the Cafeteria and Starbucks outlets with a digital wallet platform issued to all students, linked with their student ID card. This will allow students/parents to add funds to student’s accounts, across the following campuses:

    • Conway Park
    • Twelve Quays
    • Wirral Waters
    • The Oval

    Each student account will be registered against their student Wirral MET College email. Once funds have been added to an account, student ID cards can be used for purchases. Students eligible for a meal allowance through Bursary will have a daily top up to their account automatically.

    Please note that funds automatically transferred from Bursary are for use on the allocated day and cannot be accumulated, but this is not applicable to funds transferred by students/parents.

    Instructions for use are attached and the student account will be activated for the logging in process by Monday 4th September 2023.


    Logging In

    1. Go to KAppture
    2. Click “Log On” Located top right of the website and then click “Forgotten your password?”
    3. Type in student email and Organisation ID: BAXJK - An email from Kappture will be sent to your student email account to reset password. Please check junk/spam folders.
    4. Use the link in that email to reset your password.
    5. Enter account login details, and click “Log On”, as pictured on the right.

     

    Register Card/Top Up

    To register your bank card against an account, follow these steps:

    1. Click “Register Card”
    2. Enter card details and click “Make Payment" (No money will be taken at this point)

     

    To top up an account follow these steps (requires a card to be registered first):

    1. Click “Top-Up”
    2. Enter the desired top-up value and clickon the tick icon to proceed.

  • Parent Portal

    Wirral Met is keen to work with parents and guardians to support students to achieve the best they can. By registering, you can view the progress your son/daughter is making.

    How to set up a ProPortal Parent Account

    1. Go to PROPORTAL PARENT
    2. Click on the 'Submit An Account Request' link
    3. Add your email address & create a password
    4. Add details of your son’s/daughter’s course (student reference number, name, date of birth & course title)
    5. Submit your request
    6. You will receive an email – click on the link to verify your account
    7. You will receive a confirmation email with details of your account
  • TalkCampus

    It’s tough being a student and we know that young people don't always want to talk to us, or their parent/guardian about how their feeling. That’s why we’ve launched TalkCampus. An app where our students can talk with other students from around the world if their struggling and worried about their mental health. Students can download the app here.

    This app is in addition to our highly qualified safeguarding and support for learning teams, which include Pastoral Support Mentors, Counsellors and Additional Learning Support.

  • Support for students

    Wirral Met provides outstanding support for students, to help students progress onto apprenticeships, jobs and university.

    In addition to Personal Tutors, Wirral Met has a dedicated Additional Learning Support team providing support to those who need it. The team is there to support your son or daughter with specific learning needs including dyslexia/dyspraxia, physical difficulties, and mental health and well-being. Pastoral Support Mentors provide support with personal issues, problems relating to finance, time management and study support to help students keep up with their work.

    Wirral Met works in partnership with employers to provide work placements to improve students’ experience and confidence in the workplace, which helps them progress into apprenticeships and jobs.

  • Safeguarding your child

    Wirral Met takes the health and wellbeing of our students very seriously. We have a Safeguarding Manager, with specific policies regarding safeguarding, zero tolerance on bullying and health and safety of students, staff and visitors to College.

    Please call our Student Services team on 0151 551 7777 if you have any safeguarding concerns about your son or daughter.

  • Student Charter – we expect our students to:
    • Attend every class
    • Work hard and give 100% in their work
    • Show respect to their tutors and other students
    • We monitor attendance and all classes are registered; tutors will inform parents if a student’s attendance drops.
    • We review each student’s performance during regular personal tutorials; each student’s Individual Learning Plan is updated with targets and details of their progress


    We hope you will join us in supporting and encouraging your son or daughter to take their studies seriously, attend all classes, behave appropriately, be punctual and hand work in on time.

  • T Levels

    T Levels are technical qualifications at level 3, equivalent to taking 3 A Levels. T Levels combine classroom learning with a 45 day industry placement.

    They are for those aged 16-19 who have finished their GCSEs and want the knowledge and experience to progress into a job, apprenticeship or Higher Education.
