This course is suitable for those who wish to study beauty therapy on a part-time basis during the evening. The qualification gained should help you to embark on a career in this fast growing industry.

Course Details

The theory for this course will be taught in the classroom. The rest of your time will be spent in our salons working on each other, models and clients.

You will cover the following:

  • Manicure
  • Eyelash/eyebrow treatments
  • Waxing
  • Make-up application
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Client care & team work
  • Facial skin care

Although not compulsory, it is recommended that you gain some experience in the industry during the course to help you achieve your qualification.

During your course there will be opportunities for attending National shows and exhibitions where you can see some of the main wholesalers and manufacturers of equipment and products. Please note that it is mandatory to complete awarding body COVID19 qualifications whilst studying a VTCT course. The exam registration fee is approximately £20.

Entry Guidelines

To study a Level 2 qualification, you will need:

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3, including English and Maths (or L1  Functional Skills in English and Maths)
                                     OR
A relevant Level 1 qualification with GCSE English and Maths at grade 3 or above (or L1 Functional Skills in English and Maths)

Satisfactory interview and/or assessment

Equipment Required
You will need to purchase a uniform, which consists of grey tunic and matching tailored trousers (no leggings or jeans), the cost will be approximately £45. You must wear black closed in shoes. You will also be required to buy a kit so you can practice your skills at home as the kit contains all you will need (approximate cost £87.43). This will be discussed at interview.
Assessment Method
Assessments continue throughout the course both in practical and theory sessions. In addition to this there are VTCT exams.
Additional Information
An early application is recommended for this course.

An interview for all candidates will be arranged with a member of the teaching team where you will have an opportunity to discuss the course and your individual needs. There will be an English assessment at this interview.

  • An ability to communicate one to one e.g. with a tutor or customer and in a group as part of discussions.
  • Maths skills are required as you will need to measure products and work within specific treatment times etc.
  • This profession and course require you to be able to carry out physical work for long periods of time. Reasonable adjustments will be made to accommodate disabilities.
