Welcome to Wirral Met College's BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design Skills (Photography). Equivalent to three GCSEs, this course offers a comprehensive foundation in the field of photography for aspiring artists and designers.

Whether you're aiming to pursue art and design as a standalone study or integrate it with complementary subjects, this one-year, full-time course provides an enriching learning experience.

Course Details

This diploma has been developed in collaboration with educators and industry professionals to ensure relevance to contemporary industry standards and practices.

Through three mandatory modules, you will delve into the core aspects of photography, developing both your technical skills and creative expression. The modules you will study are:

  • Exploring and Developing Art and Design Skills
  • Personal Development
  • Responding to a Creative Brief
Entry Guidelines

This is a Study Programme and priority will be given to students who are 16-18 years of age.

To study a Level 2 qualification, you will need:

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3, including English and Maths (or L1  Functional Skills in English and Maths)
                                     OR
A relevant Level 1 qualification with GCSE English and Maths at grade 3 or above (or L1 Functional Skills in English and Maths)

 

Satisfactory interview and/or assessment

Assessment Method

Assessment throughout the course is conducted through a combination of practical assignments, portfolio submissions, and written evaluations.

Completion of this diploma opens doors to further learning opportunities at Level 3, such as the Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma in Art and Design Practice (Photography) or other complementary diplomas.
