The aim of this qualification is to prepare students to work with children between birth and five years with knowledge of children up to seven years or to progress onto the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (EYE) or the CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce.

- Theme 4: Professional development
This is a Study Programme and applicants must be 16 or 17 years of age when applying (on or before 31st August)*. This is Government Guidelines.
Relevant Level 1 qualification or a minimum of 4 GCSEs including English Language Grade 4/C and 3 GCSEs at Grade 3/D or above (including maths).
Applicants should be ready to complete a work placement
Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and a positive references from your last place of education or training.
Satisfactory DBS

- Show evidence of current or projected GCSE results.
- Demonstrate level 1 English in the assessment and interview which includes speaking, listening, reading and writing.
- Complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).
- Show that you are motivated, committed and have excellent punctuality and attendance.
- Provide your school report and reference.
- Present a Record of Achievement from your last school.

Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:
- A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
- Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
- English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade A* - C or Grade 4 or above in English and maths
- Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips

This study programme is free for students, who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, and students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
