Our Animal Management course is designed to kickstart your journey into the exciting world of animal care and management. This level 2 Animal Management course equips you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to thrive in various animal-related industries. This course serves as an excellent foundation for those seeking to work in animal shelters, wildlife rehabilitation centres, veterinary clinics, zoos, or moving on to either an apprenticeship or a level 3 course.
Course Details
This course is for students who want to progress into a career in the Animal Management/Care sector, with a focus on knowledge, skills and behaviours specific to your future study and jobs. Whilst you are in college you will learn practical skills in handling and caring for animals, as well as learning the theory behind your practicals. For example, you will learn how to make sure animals are healthy and signs of ill health, how to design accommodation to suit different species and understand basic principles of animal biology. Your expert teachers will support you in your learning and help you to develop the skills you'll need to progress. We also have an extensive support team in college, who are dedicated to working with our teachers to make sure our students excel on their courses.
Entry Guidelines

This is a Study Programme and priority will be given to students who are 16-18 years of age.

To study a Level 2 qualification, you will need:

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3, including English and Maths (or L1  Functional Skills in English and Maths)
                                     OR
A relevant Level 1 qualification with GCSE English and Maths at grade 3 or above (or L1 Functional Skills in English and Maths)

If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course. To discuss further, please contact the ESOL department on 0151 551 7144.

Equipment Required
Uniform will be required, and this will be discussed at our Welcome Events, Open Evenings and when you enrol. Many students will be eligilbe for bursary to help fund the costs of the uniform.
Assessment Method
You will complete practical and verbal assessments alongside written assignments and tasks. Every student must complete all assessments to achieve the qualification.
Additional Information
You will also study Maths and English as part of your Study Programme, as well as completing work experience placements, THRIVE tutorials and trips and visits. Are you aged 16-18? Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include: - A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma - Meaningful work experience or preparation for work - English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade 9-4/A*-C in English and maths - Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips.

This study programme is free for students, who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, and students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
