As part of Visitor Economy Week 2019, Wirral Met College is delighted announce the first ever Young Hairstylist and Young Makeup Artist competition!
If you are in years 9, 10 or 11 and have a passion for styling hair or applying makeup, then now is the time to enter to impress our judges on Wednesday 6th February 2019 at Wirral Met College. There are two different categories; Young Hairstylist of the Year and Young Makeup artist of the year.
The first part of the competition involves applicants producing a hairstyle or a makeup look of their choice to post to Instagram using the following hashtags:
#wmcyounghairstylist2019
#wmcyoungmakeupartist2019
Once posted on Instagram using the hashtag, register at Eventbrite and include your first name and surname in the ‘First Name’ box and your Instagram name in the ‘Surname’ box as well as your email.

The judges will be shortlisting finalists from the Instagram posts the week commencing 21st January 2019 to invite them into the College on Wednesday 6th February 2019. If you have not heard from us by Friday 25th of January 2019, then unfortunately this means that your application has not been successful on this occasion. Finalists will be contacted by email from Wirral Met College Hair & Beauty Department.
To apply you must:
- Post your completed look on Instagram including the relevant hashtag (or email us)
- Register on Eventbrite and include your Instagram name and email address
- The completed application needs to reach us no later than Friday 18th January 2019
Criteria for finalists:
- You will need to be enthusiastic about Hairstyling and/or applying makeup
- Complete hairstyle/makeup look on a live model (age 14+) within 1 hour
- You will need to use your own tools and equipment
- You need to be able to take some constructive feedback from the judges
Finalists will be expected to confirm their attendance of the final competition.
Judging will take place on Wednesday 6th of February 2019 at 4.30 PM at Conway Park Campus, Europa Boulevard, Birkenhead, CH41 4NT.
