Wirral Met students have been using their practical skills to give a local park a facelift.

Students from Routes to Success volunteered at Butterfly Park in New Ferry from November to January, honing their horticultural skills, in cold, winter weather, demonstrating skills such as landscaping, teamwork, and hard work.

Our Routes to Success students persisted on their mission, through icy and snowy conditions, clearing out ivy-grown hawthorn, coppicing buddleias, and removing bramble which had become overgrown since the pandemic.

Our Routes to Success courses are designed to help young people not currently in education, employment, or training, and aims develop skills transferrable in both an employment and education setting.
