National Careers Week continued on Tuesday 7th March with an exciting array of guest speakers and events.
The day started with a look into NHS apprenticeships for our science students, who spoke to visitors about life as an apprentice in the NHS.
Our creative arts and media students meanwhile explored the exciting world of the tattoo industry, with a talk from local tattoo artists Emma Newman and Holly Rice, from The Painted Ladies. Our experts spoke to students about catering to your clientele, perfecting your technique, and having the right attitude to business.
Students at our University Centre also took part in a guest lecture. Professor John Goldring, from the University of Manchester, spoke to second year students from BA (Hons) Sociology with Criminology and Access to HE Sociology and Criminology students, engaging in discussion about the pre-conceptions and attitudes towards sex work and the connotations of the role.
Our Esports students also took part in two talks yesterday, both virtually and in person. The first of these talks was hosted by Connor Strange, a stream manager for Esports Wales, whilst members of the RVNS, a popular Esports team, spoke to students about the industry.
Health and Social care students were visited by Amy Butterworth, the CEO of Make It Happen, speaking about the value of volunteering within communities, whilst Dave Eccleston, from Liverpool Clinical Laboratories, conducted a talk with our science students about opportunities within the profession.
