Wirral Met college is offering an exciting opportunity for Level 3 Travel and Tourism students to learn Mandarin. Lessons are being delivered by the renowned Liverpool Confucius Institute (LCI).

Founded in 2009, LCI is a collaborative project between the University of Liverpool, Xi'an Jiaotong University and the Chinese International Education Foundation. The LCI is committed to working with local Liverpool and Merseyside councils, cultural organisations, schools and the public for the promotion of Chinese language and culture.

Students will partake in weekly lessons throughout the academic year and upon completion of the course they will have the opportunity to sit the HSK1 exam, marking their proficiency in the Mandarin language.

During their first session, students mastered essential greetings and honed their counting skills by grasping numbers from 1 to 10. This promising start is a testament to the students' dedication and the expert guidance provided by the LCI instructors.

The partnership between Wirral Met College and the Liverpool Confucius Institute offers a brilliant opportunity for students to explore and learn Mandarin, one of the world's most widely spoken languages. This venture will open doors to a number of exciting career prospects within the travel, tourism, and aviation industries. The students' ability to communicate in Mandarin will not only enrich their travel experiences but also provide them with a competitive edge in a globally interconnected job market. As businesses and industries become increasingly globalised, the ability to communicate in Mandarin is a valuable asset that enhances employability and facilitates successful international collaborations.

This partnership with the Liverpool Confucius Institute emphasises Wirral Met College's commitment to providing its students with diverse, practical, and globally relevant educational experiences.
