Supported Internships offer young people aged 16-24 the opportunity to gain practical work-based learning experience, providing a smooth transition from education to paid employment and further study.

After working 10 months on a Supported Internship, Jamie Hauxwell has now secured full-time employment with The Automatic Door Company (ADC).

During his course, Jamie spent two days a week working with ADC as a member of their warehouse staff, getting to grips with his role by learning each area of the business. This included quality control, manufacture and prep.

Jamie has said “I have learnt a lot since being at ADC. I really enjoy working here, it’s a great company to work for”.

Following his journey as a Supported Intern, Jamie has become a valuable member of ADC, having grown his skills and understanding with the training provided to him throughout his internship and employment at ADC.

Richard Parker at ADC has said “Supported internships have been really helpful for us as a company.

They have given us the chance to welcome students who are thinking of working within the Automatic Door industry, for them to trial what the role would be like to see if it is the right fit for them and gain some experience on the job, before they consider applying for a full-time role with us.  We have recently hired an intern and they have been a great addition to our team.

If you are an employer thinking offering a supported internship, I would recommend you give it a try.”
