It’s not only young people leaving school who are looking forward to studying; many adults are looking at new careers in different sectors, or gaining qualifications to help them get a promotion at work.

The Health and Safety Executive reported for 2016/17 that the highest number of accidents at work are from slips trips or falls at 29% with lifting or handling accidents at 22%. Are you a manager looking for training on how to manage health and safety or do your staff need training on working safely? On the Managing Safely course you can learn about assessing and controlling risks, understanding responsibilities, hazards and investigating incidents. The Working Safely course is for people at any level, in any sector, who need a grounding in the essentials of safety and health to improve safety and identify common hazards.

Do you work with food or would like to understand more about specialist dietary requirements and allergens? The Healthier Foods and Special Diets Award qualification is aimed at those involved in catering, nutrition and health-related occupations including carers, community workers, fitness trainers and other individuals, who have a role in promoting healthy diets. Gaining a good understanding of the basic principles of nutrition which underpin the production of healthy meals and preparation of special diets is essential to these roles.

Wirral Met College has a number of part-time courses starting soon, from First Aid at Work and Manual Handling to Introduction to Psychology or the level 3 Interpreting course. During the open evening all four campuses will be available to walk around between 4.30pm and 7.00pm and visitors can tour the facilities and talk to staff about courses or their career options. The open evening welcomes school leavers looking to continue their education and training with the opportunity to see the excellent facilities that Wirral Met offer. The evening also welcomes adults who are looking for training to improve job prospects or gain a promotion through completing a relevant course to their industry.
