Carola Bianco completed the level 2 English For Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course in 2019 and is now working towards her dream career in the Police.

Carola Bianco ESOL case studyThe ESOL course aims to give students a good knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and functional language skills for everyday life. Programmes range from Pre-Entry Level 1 up to Level 2 and comprises full-time, part-time, evening and community-based classes. As well as learning a new language, students have to learn how to access travel, housing, health care and the job market.

Carola said: “As a foreign student in the UK, the course helped me to improve my English skills and my confidence. I am now able to speak and write in English as if it was my first language.

“The part I enjoyed the most during my course was the class conversations. The course gave me the opportunity to start University which I’ll always be grateful for. I’ll always recommend this course to other foreign students as the course completely changed my life in the UK.”

 With her new skills and confidence, Carola has progressed on to the BA (Hons) Sociology with Criminology degree at Wirral Met, which delves in to a range of sociological and criminological topics. Carola hopes to work in the Police as a Police Inspector in the future.

Carola adds: “I am thankful to Wirral Met College which gave me the opportunity to pursue my dream to study Sociology and Criminology.”
