Wirral Met College is dedicated to providing students with the skills and qualifications they need in order to progress into jobs, apprenticeships and university.
Students from every area of the college have successfully progressed into employment, with some starting their own businesses and others choosing further study or apprenticeships.
Once students leave the college they can choose to become part of Wirral Met’s Alumni community and become role models for current students following in their footsteps. The alumni community 
also allows former students to become a mentor for current students, take part in guest speaker events to share their experiences, provide work experience and apprenticeship/traineeship opportunities and importantly, to reconnect with friends.
A selection of alumni members have already shared their inspirational stories since leaving the college. Liam Heyward, completed the BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Uniformed Services in 2011. He was involved in a number of activities during his time at Wirral Met, including the college’s enrichment programme and he was elected President of the Students’ Union committee. Liam is now employed by the University of Liverpool, working in the Widening Participation and Outreach Department. He commented, “I truly believe that these unique opportunities helped shape me into the character that I am today. Thank you to Wirral Met for providing me with the right opportunities to truly discover and determine my future career path.”
James Bowman, another member of Wirral Met’s alumni network, studied the BA (Hons) Fine Art Degree at Wirral Met and successfully graduated in 2015. Since leaving the college James has been very busy with a number of projects including working as a production assistant for three productions at Grosvenor Park Theatre, creating a six part community engaged Public Art mural erected in the Wirral Waters site and he also worked to assist and facilitate workshops at The Williamson Art Gallery & Museum. Alongside this James works as a support worker for P3, a charity for young people leaving care.
His artwork was recently exhibited as part of Threshold Festival, Liverpool which he describes as his “most ambitious piece of Art outside of the course”. He commented about his time at college, “I have studied in a number of institutions and it is rare that you find the dedication and enthusiasm given by the tutors at Wirral Met. The college harbours an environment that stimulates intellectual advancement whilst providing the tools to develop professionally. It is with pride when I tell people that I have graduated from Wirral Met and I encourage everyone to study there and share in the profound experience that I was lucky to receive.”
