We will help you access funding to support you with the costs of training and development:

  • We will advise on continuing professional development courses which are free or part-funded by the Government
  • We will support small to medium sized organisations access Government grants, or levy transfer funds, as available, for apprenticeship training and development
  • We can develop a package of training and development services which maximise the use of your training budget, to meet your specific needs.

Apprenticeships

If you employ an apprentice aged 16-18, you will be entitled to receive a £1000 Government incentive grant, which will be paid in two installments.

If you employ an apprentice aged 19+, you will need to pay 5% of the costs of the training and assessment for the apprenticeship. However, there may be other sources of funding which Wirral Met can help you access.

For example, the Wirral Apprentice Grant scheme is offered by Wirral Council at various times of the year. These £3,000 grants support small to medium sized employers based in Wirral to recruit young people aged 16 to 24 who live in Wirral and are not in employment, education or training.

We can also provide details of the Wirral Apprentice Grant scheme offered by Wirral Council at various times of the year.  These grants support small to medium sized employers based in Wirral to recruit young people aged 16 to 24 who live in Wirral and are not in employment, education or training.

The newly introduced CITB 'Into Work' Grant pays grants for completed work experience for an individual on an approved further education course, where the work experience started on or after 1 September 2023, and subsequent grant for three-months completed direct employment. This grant is a pilot until 31 March 2025.
